Yaw: Senate Environmental Resources & Energy Committee Approves Measures to Streamline Government

(HARRISBURG) – The Senate Environmental Resources & Energy Committee today approved three measures designed to streamline government, according to committee Chairman Senator Gene Yaw (R-23).

The committee approved the following:

Senate Bills 717 and 718 (Bartolotta) amend the Environmental Hearing Board Act to improve the quality of permits issued and the process for appealing permit decisions by the state Department of Environmental Protection.

Senate Resolution No. 139 (Mensch) urges the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to revise the nationwide Renewable Fuel Standard to provide relief to refiners in Pennsylvania, the East Coast and elsewhere, and to implement additional reforms going forward which will allow for the blending of renewable fuels consistent with the original intention of the RFS program, while containing costs for independent refiners.

The items will now move to the full Senate for consideration.
