Please be advised that the Senate Environmental Resources & Energy Committee will be joining the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee for a public hearing on Tuesday, January 28th, at 9:30 am in Hearing Room #1 of the North Office Building.
The purpose of the joint hearing will be to solicit testimony regarding recent changes to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), as the result of the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 (BW-12). Congress approved BW-12 hoping to make the NFIP more solvent, but the law cut subsidies on many homeowners’ flood insurance policies causing payments to rise higher than the mortgage itself.
In 2011, the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee held a hearing regarding issues surrounding stormwater management and flood mitigation.
An agenda will be delivered to your office prior to the hearing. If you have any questions, please contact Adam Pankake of my office at 787-3280 (email@example.com).
